Is the building industry ready for nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEB) in the Czech Republic and Europe? The answer was discussed at the international conference, which took place on 24 January 2018 at the Architecture and Building Foundation (ABF) in Prague. In addition to Czech construction professionals and representatives of the state authorities, the experts from Austria, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania actively participated in the conference.
The conference was opened by a representative of the CZ Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Petr Vozka, who presented subsidy programs and possibilities for support of energy efficiency available in the Czech Republic. The conference was held within the international Horizon 2020 project ingREeS, the summary and results of which were presented by František Doktor from ViaEuropa, involved as a partners into the project.
Two experts from the Austrian universities in Vienna and Graz had topical presentations of trends in energy efficient buildings. Mrs. Doris Österreicher from Universität für Bodenkultur Wien has shown a number of examples of retrofit of energy-inefficient buildings, including historic buildings that have achieved significant energy savings in annual energy consumption after renovation. Mr. Professor Peter Maydl from the Technical University in Graz spoke about "green building products", their development in the context of new European legislation and their significant impact on reducing negative environmental impacts.
Representative of the Slovak Chamber of Construction Engineers (SKSI), which is the coordinator of the ingREeS project, Mr. Tomáš Funtík presented the implementation and results of professional trainings in Slovakia, including presentation of training module on Building Information Modelling.
Approach to support for implementation of nearly zero-energy buildings in Bulgaria was presented by EnEffect, Mr. Dragomir Tzanev. Romanian training centers for construction professionals in Bucharest and Braşov, where nZEB trainings are taking place, were presented by Mrs. Narcisa Danila from the Business Development Group.
The final part of the conference was dedicated to further international projects to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of nZEB education: NET-UBIEP project, focused at increasing the skills in BIM application, NEWCOM project, aiming to increase practical skills of construction workers, as well as educational Train-to-NZEB and Fit-to-NZEB projects. The result of the new running project Fit-to-nZEB will be development of training programmes on the retrofit of buildings, taking into account a significant potential for energy savings in this area.
After the official part, the conference participants had the opportunity to examine the equipment of the training center, situated at the ABF Foundation. Exposition include various types of thermal insulations, thermal imagers, airtightness measuring device and, above all, four unique real-size models of building structures implemented in accordance with highly energy efficient standard.
